The Government has established the Social Protection Board, comprising of various members holding their positions by virtue of their offices. The Board is recognized as a corporate body with perpetual succession and a common seal, allowing it to sue and be sued under its official name. Composition of board is as follows:

The Board’s functions are outlined to ensure the purposes of the Act are met. It is tasked with setting indicators to identify vulnerable persons, commissioning surveys from independent and credible third parties to identify vulnerable populations, and registering these individuals as prescribed. The Board will also determine the monthly subsistence allowance for vulnerable persons, considering their basic needs such as food, education, and medical treatment, and will communicate their details to the Accountant General’s Office for allowance disbursement. The Board will approve the annual budget before June 30 each year and will ensure transparency at all levels. It will be responsible for preparing and submitting annual reports to the Assembly, detailing its work and activities under the Act. The Board will exercise all powers necessary for effective management and supervision, establish mechanisms to assess program impacts, and to addresses grievances of individuals not included as beneficiaries or those with complaints against beneficiaries.
